Leading like a GIRL means being yourself, trusting your instincts and embracing mistakes. A woman with a voice is by definition a STRONG woman.

The persistent constraints and deprivations that prevent many of the world’s women from achieving their potential have huge consequences for individuals, families, communities and nations. Expanding women’s ability to make decisions and take advantage of opportunities is critical to improving their lives as well as the world we all share.

Advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to: Have their voice heard on issues that are important to them. Defend and safeguard their rights. Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives.

Although women have made gains towards equality in this country, we still have a long way to go: only fourteen percent of executive officer positions, eleven percent of board seats in Fortune 500 companies, and nineteen percent of elected congressional leaders are women. The statistics are even worse for women of color. We want to change this trend through grass-roots efforts starting here at home.

A Girl centric LEADERSHIP summit , combing EDUCATION and ADVOCACY in order to DEVELOP our next generation of empowered women. This event brings middle school and high school girls from marginalized edges of society together to learn from one another and from women leaders in our community. Our goal is to empower girls with the ideas they need to make a difference within their schools and neighborhoods through Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Development. Although women have made gains towards equality in this country, we still have a long way to go.
